There also are several new acts. Last year area music lovers and supporters of The Salvation Army donated $4\,055.46 during the concerts at D&W. \nHere’s the schedule: \nSaturday Dec. 7\, 11 a.m.-noon: Prevailing Winds. The musical season will begin again this year with Grand Haven’s premier community ensemble\, Prevailing Winds\, under the direction of Bob Fullerton.  Prevailing Winds is made up of 30-plus local musicians\, mostly adults who either have kept up or refreshed their skills and who love playing in a concert band. \nMonday\, Dec. 9\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: The West Michigan Banjo Club. The Club is composed of a group of local musicians who play a variety of instruments\, not just banjos.  There also are vocalists. The Club is dedicated to historical\, old-time songs\, but will mix in contemporary and Christmas songs. \nTuesday\, Dec. 10\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Acoustic Oasis. Phil Petersen and Glen Miller\, aka Acoustic Oasis\, are two guys who love playing music. Inspired by the music of such artists as CSNY\, Simon and Garfunkel\, The Beatles\, Jack Johnson and Ray Lamontagne\, they have created a playlist of covers and originals adding many instruments along the way. Their sound includes 6- and 12-string guitars\, mandolin\, ukulele\, banjo\, clarinet\, and harmonica. They play for concerts and private parties throughout West Michigan. \nWednesday\, Dec. 11\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Butch Grenell and Unbreakable Pride. The group includes Butch Grenell on bass guitar and vocals\, Buzz Spier\, lead guitar\, and Leroy Golden\, pedal steel guitar. And while Country is their mainstay they also do gospel and rock. \nThursday\, Dec. 12\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Rick Hicks. Muskegon blues guitar legend Rick Hicks has performed\, recorded\, and traveled to Italy with Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist\, Betty Joplin. Rick will be playing solo\, but his own Rick Hicks Band has been the opening act for “Spyra Gyra\,” Gladys Knight\, Bobby Blue Bland\, the “Gap” Band\, James Brown\, “Kool & the Gang\,” “The Spinners\,” “Frankie Beverly & Maze\,” the “Isley Brothers\,” and even rapper\, “L. L. Cool J.” \nFriday\, Dec. 13\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Loren Janis Johnson. Singer\, songwriter\, guitarist is ready to release a new album. Years later after having settled in West Michigan\, Loren has found herself in the middle of a vibrant\, emerging music and art scene both inside and out of the state. She has been busy playing live\, starting a photography business\, graduating from Grand Valley State University in 2017\, and heavily involved with planning the Walk the Beat Festival in Grand Haven. \nSaturday\, Dec. 14\, 11 a.m.-noon: Members of The River Rogues.  The River Rogues is an enduring Grand Rapids-based Dixieland group. Members include Jim Everhart\, piano\, Dave Kadwell\, banjo\, Paul Keen\, tuba\, Tom Davis\, percussion\, Ken Huisman\, clarinet\, saxes and cornet\, David Schock\, cornet\, and Dave Wells\, trombone. The group performs regularly at Grand Rapids’ Harmony Hall. \nMonday\, Dec. 16\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: The Frank Eimer Band. Frank Eimer and his group have been around the area since the 1960s. The band plays a mix of rock ’n’ roll\, country and the blues covers\, including tunes from the ’50s\, ’60s\, ’70s and ’80s. Members of the band include Eimer\, lead guitar\, John Jennings\, saxophones\, Tom Davis\, drums\, Fred Ploughman\, keyboards\, and perhaps steel guitarist Rick Barr. And everybody sings. Eimer and Jennings are in the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame. \nTuesday\, Dec. 17\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Two Banjos!!!  The group is made up of regionally acclaimed Grand Rapids banjoists Dave Kadwell\, and Mike Harig. \nWednesday\, Dec. 18\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Steel Doin’ It. The group of Trinidadian steel pan players was born in 2002 from a community education class taught by Glen Miller at Spring Lake High School.  The group of nine is composed of Grand Haven and Spring Lake residents. Sharon Rathbun\, Rebecca Kaufman\, Scott Klempel\, Karen Cotton\, Cindy Krause\, Ambre Slater\, and Diane Veneklasen play steel drums. Setting the beat and playing the “toys” are Kevin Schmucker and Kelly Parker. \nThursday\, Dec. 19\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: The Heritage Hill String Quartet. The group has played as the opening music to the delight of listeners and dancers during the past two summers’ Woodchopper’s Ball. Members for this performance include Natalie Hockamier\, violin\, Ryan Pott\, violin\, Jennifer Butcher\, viola\, and Lee Copenhaver\, cello. \nFriday\, Dec. 20\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Christmas Carol Sing with pianist Becca Beebe and violinist and violist Jennifer Butcher. This will be Butcher’s fourth year but Beebe has been performing music at D&W during the Christmas season for the past 15 or more years and helped to start the series. \nSaturday\, Dec. 21\, 11a.m.-noon: Huyge/Beavan/Schock/Davis. This quartet specializes both in smooth\, danceable jazz and straight-ahead bop\, and is composed of Grand Haven trumpeter/flugelhornist David Schock\, and Grand Rapids musicians pianist Bill Huyge\, bassist Jeff Beavan\, and drummer Tom Davis. \nMonday\, Dec. 23\, 5:30-6:30 p.m.: The Salvation Army Band. In the tradition of more than a century\, the local Salvation Army band will play from its library of hymns and other songs. The small group performs regularly at The Grand Haven Salvation Army Church. This marks the first time the group\, under the direction of Lars Anderson\, will play during the concert season. \nTuesday\, Dec. 24\, 11-12: Pianist Paul Hebert and flugelhorninst\, trumpeter David Schock play calm jazz and Christmas favorites for weary shoppers. \nAll proceeds go to The Salvation Army and all concerts are in the store’s café area. \nThe Grand Haven D&W Fresh Market is at 1116 Robbins Road. The Salvation Army has been active in Grand Haven since 1922.  The Salvation Army facility is at 310 North DeSpelder. The phone number is 616.842.3380.
