DESCRIPTION:The next First-Friday Dance at Grand Haven’s D&W Fresh Market will run from 7-10 p.m. May 3\, 2019. The dance is an outreach of The Salvation Army in the Tri Cities area. \nThe dance will be held in the store’s café area with spillover dancing in the aisles. In addition to dancing\, patrons are welcome to sit and enjoy the music and maybe buy a cup of coffee\, a soft drink\, and something to eat. \nThe band Silverado\, is a long-time local favorite\, whose members play music ranging from County standards to early Rock’n’Roll\, along with polkas\, waltzes\, and line dances. Three musicians comprise Silverado: Woody Woodrum\, steel guitar and lead guitar\, Cheryl Cook\, rhythm guitar and vocals\, and Tom Bourne\, bass guitar\, drums\, and vocals. \nLast month’s dance brought in $534.05. \nThe Grand Haven D&W Fresh Market is at 1116 Robbins Road. \nThe Salvation Army has been active in Grand Haven since 1922 and works to help people with both the necessities of life and to enhance the quality of their lives.  The Salvation Army facility is at 310 North DeSpelder. SUMMARY:First Friday Dance at D&W with The Rick Hicks Band
DESCRIPTION:Dancers again will have a chance to dance the first Friday of the month at Grand Haven’s D&W Fresh Market\, Friday\, February 1\, 2019\, from 7-10 p.m. \nRick Hicks’ Band from Muskegon will be providing a flavorful mix of Blues and Motown sounds for dancing.  Rick Hicks is a warm\, versatile guitarist/vocalist in the tradition of BB King\, Wes Montgomery\, and Albert King. He and his band perform a mix of high-energy blues\, Funk\, soul\, rock’n’roll\, jazz\, Motown\, R&B\, and crowd requests…all danceable. Members of the band also include Mark Hicks on bass\, Jeff Baird on saxophones\, and Kevin Cornelius on percussion. \nThe dance is an outreach of The Salvation Army in the Tri Cities area. \nLast month’s dance brought in $419.47. \nThe dance will be held in the store’s café area with spillover dancing in the aisles. In addition to dancing\, patrons are welcome to sit and enjoy the music and maybe buy a cup of coffee\, a soft drink\, and something to eat. \nThe Grand Haven D&W Fresh Market is at 1116 Robbins Road. \nThe Salvation Army has been active in Grand Haven since 1922 and works to help people with both the necessities of life and to enhance the quality of their lives.  The Salvation Army facility is at 310 North DeSpelder. DESCRIPTION:For the 22nd year\, Gallery Uptown in Grand Haven presents its annual Winter Arts Festival\, January 30 through February 23. This juried art competition features professional and amateur artists of West Michigan and beyond\, and is recognized as an important regional competition. \nCash awards will be presented to first\, second\, third place and Honorable Mention recipients\, along with special sponsored awards.
